QVLeap 2026 Event Report
Event Report
On Saturday 10 October 2026, we held QVLeap 2026, a quantum ideathon at QUINTBRIDGE in Osaka. Co-hosted with Tokiwa Valley as a side event of Global Startup Expo 2026, it brought together students, people from companies, creators, and participants from a range of backgrounds.
How the day unfolded
QVillager representative Yuanbo Chen opened with a short talk on the basics of quantum technology. Participants then split into teams for a card-based workshop. We introduced quantum computing, quantum sensing, and communication security through familiar examples. Each team selected one challenge card and explored it in depth using a worksheet.
The teams chose “Audio keeps cutting out during meetings” and “Reusing the same password allows the damage to spread.” Both teams carefully examined who was affected, what they were struggling with, and where current approaches fell short.
During the presentations, participants listened to each other’s ideas and predicted Yuanbo Chen’s assessment before checking their answers against a quick-reference explanation sheet. Their assessments agreed, but their reasoning differed, giving everyone an opportunity to discuss those differences.
Participants told us that quantum technology felt more relevant to everyday life.
Workshop materials
We used the following materials:
- Challenge cards (10 types): everyday problems, current approaches, and conditions
- Quantum technology cards: capabilities, required conditions, and limitations
- A3 worksheet: six fields to work through a problem and reach an assessment
- Post-workshop explanations: relevant research and guidance for assessing each challenge
Thank you
Thank you to our co-hosts at Tokiwa Valley, everyone at QUINTBRIDGE, and all those who joined us.
